9:55CT: Apple Store is down.
10:57CT: Three minute warning!
11:14CT: Keynote started, and Steve’s on stage. A little behind schedule.
11:16CT: We begin by talking about Leopard.
11:19CT: New product: Time Capsule - A full blown Airport Extreme with Hard Drive built-in (internal).
11:21CT: iPhone up next. 4 million in sales.
11:24CT: 1.1.3 to be released. All features leaked seem to be included. (iPhone 24×7 will be advising later today on the choice to update.)
11:35CT: iPod Touch - 5 new apps. Cost $20, not cool! Come on Apple!
11:37CT: iTunes movie rentals announced. Every major studio on board.
11:41CT: Library Titles: $2.99 and New Releases: $3.99
11:44CT: Apple TV Take 2
12:00CT: New Apple TV is simply free software update, will be out in 2 weeks. Price has also dropped from $299 to $229.
12:03CT: Fox will be making DVDs with iTunes compatible digital copies. I really like this move.
12:08CT: MacBook Air is introduced!
12:17CT: 13.3″ screen with magnetic latch. Just 3lbs!! 1.8″ HD - 80GB or 64GB SSD option. 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz option for Intel C2D (Core 2 Duo). Intel apparently specially shrunk the C2D for this notebook.
12:21CT: “The processor is as think as a nickle and as wide as a dime.”
12:23CT: 2GB Ram standard, MagSafe adapter, 1 USB 2.0 port, Micro-DVI, Audio Out, 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1/EDR, no optical drive (accessory is available for $99 and comes with software to “borrow” a Mac or PC’s optical drive), and 5 hours of battery life.
12:24CT: Pre-orders today for $1799, will ship in two weeks.
12:29CT: Apple made it super environmentally friendly, as a bonus. Fully aluminum case, first fully Mercury and Lead free display, BFR free circuit boards, and 56% less volume in retail packaging then Macbook.
12:31CT: Well…, Randy Newman is performing.
12:41CT: Apple Store and site are up and reflect today’s announcements.
12:44CT: Steve has wrapped up today’s Keynote. My only question is: What happened to updates for the MacBook Pro?
Update: iPhone 24×7’s recommendation to iPhone users on upgrading to firmware version 1.13 is to upgrade only if one or more of the features trumps the ability to use third party apps. For those using the iPod Touch, do not bother paying $20. Simply go out and jailbreak your iPod Touch. You’ll get even more for free.
Expect my complete thoughts and reaction on Macworld later tonight.

One night I was catching up on my business news on the Fox Business Channel when I saw they were giving their “Top Lists of 2007.” Once I saw the title of this segment I immediately grabbed my camera to take a picture. I was positive the iPhone would make the top of the list.
Sure enough, the segment went on to crown the iPhone as Fox Business’s America’s Nightly Scoreboard’s Hottest Product of 2007. (That’s a mouthful)
Inc. Magazine’s Rod Kurtz runs down the list that includes such items as Harry Potter, the Nintendo Wii, and Hannah Montana.
I found the video on the Fox Business Channel website and will post that here, but I still have the picture I took from the original airing.
On a final note, once again this is really emphasizing the impact of the iPhone on the mobile phone industry.

I wish everyone all around the world a Happy New Year! (I also missed Christmas, so Merry Late Christmas.) Here’s to an even better 2008.
I leave you this year with a video recap of all the years major events. Remember, just because bad things happened doesn’t mean we are a bad planet or people. So many good things happen, but we simply don’t cover in the mainstream media.

I failed to mention this story earlier, but a German court did overturn the temporary injunction issued against T-Mobile on December 4th. The injunction forced T-Mobile to sell unlocked iPhones in Germany capable of being on any GSM carrier.
You can read more on the temporary injunction in this previous iPhone 24×7 article.
You can still buy an unlocked iPhone in France due to the fact French law requires it to be unlocked after 6 months.

45nm - What exactly does that mean, and why does it matter?
When we talk about a chip being 65nm or 45nm we are talking about the size of the transistor, the foundation of modern computing - the thing that signals on and off, within a microprocessor. 1nm is 1 billionth of a meter to give some scale.
Current mainstream Intel chips are using 65nm technology. Meaning each transistor on the chip is 65nm across. Starting with the Penryn core, Intel will be using 45nm technology.
With 45nm technology, we can fit more transistors on a chip meaning a faster processor. In addition, Intel is now using a new Hafnium recipe for their chips meaning cooler, more energy efficient chips.
Why does this matter to you, the iPhone or mobile gadget user? It means we can have longer battery life and smaller devices with less heat.
Be sure to check out the videos to learn more about 45nm technology.

Now Gizmodo has an additional short video showing to the world the new features of firmware version 1.1.3.
Additional notes release include:
-Update breaks AnySim for unlocking the iPhone
-Update breaks jailbreaking (hacking iPhones)
Some features were demoed in the video. However, a controversy has broken out over the word “Nate” in the carrier name spot. This is said to be a hack simply preserved after the upgrade.
At this point, I would recommend holding off in an upgrade if third party applications though jailbreaking are that important to you. None of the upgrades are that “amazing”, but I will get back to you with my official opinion at the release of the firmware update.

GearLive claims to have had the opportunity to use the yet to be release iPhone firmware version 1.1.3. They released screenshots of some new features. A video is available as well (link at bottom).
-You can now rearrange the icons on the home screen by dragging the icons with your finger
-An update to Google Maps to include Locate Me (My Location)
-The ability to send SMS to multiple people
-Add Safari bookmarks to the home screen
According to Gizmodo, “Nate says that “it installs on the phone no-questions-asked and for that you need to have Apple’s private key, which i can confirm that the iPhone hacker community does not have—as much as we would love to have it.” Indeed, Apple’s private encrypted key, used to authenticate all accesses to the iPhone most-private guts, hasn’t been uncovered yet by anyone in the world.”
My question: Where is Flash?

Forbes Magazine has reported on a new patent application by Apple to allow On-The-Go ordering over the iPhone or other mobile device.
For an example, think of your favorite restaurant. You could walk in to it, sit down, and order on your iPhone with the press of a single button. In addition you would be notified on your iPhone when the order is ready. Talk about convenience!
The point of the patent is to fix the “annoying wait in a long queue if the purchaser arrives before completion of the order.”
The patent could also widen the relationship with Apple’s partner Starbucks. Right now, if you connect to the Internet via WiFi in a Starbucks you can have the ability to see the current song playing in Starbucks, as well as the last ten, and the ability to preview and download them that instant.

Ten One Design has created a stylus for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Available for $25, the stylus is designed specifically for use on the iPhone and iPod Touch’s surface, which normally only recognizes finger touches. If you wear gloves this maybe the accessory for you.
iPhone 24×7 will try to acquire a Pogo Stylus for further review and practicality. A quick note to companies who make products for the iPhone or iPod Touch, if you would like me to review them just shoot me and email and I’ll be more then happy.
Now, my question for you is would you switch from using your finger to a stylus?

FT.com is reporting in on iPhone sales and the impact of the iPhone on mobile data usage. Matthew Key, the incoming chief executive of O2 Europe, reports that 200,000 iPhones should be sold in the UK by early January. Other research firms say as many as 400,000 iPhones should be possible, on the other hand.
The article later states 60% of iPhone users on O2 are sending or recieving more then 25MB a month, the same as 7,500 emails. Only 1.8% of O2’s other customers are using more then 25MB a month. The numbers are significant because it could deeply help mobile advertising.
I found myself to be using at least over 100MB a month. In the entire time I have owned my iPhone, I have used approximately 700MB. How much data do you use?
